Britain thought that the other colonies would support the British, however after the passing of the Intolerable Acts, all of the 13 colonies became outraged. The first the colonists wanted peace with Britain, which was why they drafted the Olive Branch Petition and sent it to the King of England hoping for a truce. However, King George rejected it, and instead wanted to send soldiers to quell the rebellions happening. This cause major outrage among the colonists, which caused the colonists to push for independence.
