In 1979, an estimated 1.3 million elephants roamed across Africa. Since then, wild elephants and rhinos have been slaughtered daily for their tusks and horns at an unpresented rate due to poaching. Between 2010-2012, the ivory poaching crisis killed some 100,000 elephants for their tusks at a rate of 1 every 15 minutes, while in some countries of Africa including Sierra Leone and Senegal, elephants have been driven to extinction.
