Having witnessed slavery and racism his whole life, Walker argues that after travelling all over the US, he has come to the conclusion that colored people are the most degraded. He asks for slaves to revolt against their masters. Walker hopes that with the help of the Lord, people can open their hearts to see reality as it really is.  However, Colton argues that abolitionism is the most serious threat to the health and survival of the American republic. He believes that antislavery radicals were using religion as a political weapon, and he feared that abolitionists were toying with American Christian’s to gain more control.  

As a reader, I felt that Walker’s argument was stronger, mainly because I felt more emotion in his writing. He also had stronger facts, bringing up examples such as the Roman Slaves, and comparing it to slavery that was happening currently. Also, he had experienced it his whole entire life, though he was free, he saw it around him.
