I GIVE Contrast the ideas of Hobbes and Locke about government. According to each man, what should the relationship be like between government and the people?

Hobbes believed life without government was difficult, while Locke believed people have the right to rebel. Hobbes believe that the government should exist as a regulator because without it people could commit wrongdoings to other people without fearing any repercussion. Locke on the other hand believe that government had the power to restrict's people freedom by creating laws that intervene with people's life. Which is why he believed people have the right to rebel.Hobbes argued that because the "general will" of the people was for freedom, the people as a whole should force individual citizens to conform to the general will.
