According to Ohio Senate Bill 199, which went into effect March 21, 2017, Governor Kasich lifted the blanket prohibition on firearms on college campuses, pending approval by the college’s Board of Trustees. The law maintains the current prohibition preventing concealed handguns on any property owned or leased by a public or private institution of higher education, unless the gun is locked in a motor vehicle.
