The aims of Gorbachev was to liberalize the Soviet Union (meaning to ease the policies that were instructed and abided in the Soviet Union), make the economy better, and end the Cold War. The aims of Reagan is highly debated. A lot of people say that Reagan wanted to win the Cold War, while others say that he just wanted to end the Cold War. Reagan wanted to ban the manufacturing and using of nuclear weapons and end the regime of Communism across many foreign countries. Other people say that Reagan was ultimately ready for a nuclear war to happen between US and Soviet Union. Reagan also decreased the amount of inflation in US and increased the employment rate.

Both Gorbachev and Reagan wanted to destroy Communism at the end. Well, in 1990-1991, after the Cold War ended, the Communism regime in Soviet Union (Russia) ended along with the other countries in the Eastern bloc.
