Leonardo Da Vinci is best known as an artist and the painter of the Mona Lisa. However, in his lifetime, Da Vinci was interested in many other things as well, like science, math, and literature. One of his interests was cartography, the study of maps. When Leonardo was born, maps were very rare. He once presented a map he had drawn to a military general in order to impress him. This map of an Italian city was very Intricate, showing every building and street. Da Vinci was highly talented, which is impressive because he taught himself much of what he knew.
