How did slavery in cities differ from slavery on the plantation?

It differed becuase if a slave worked in shipyard, their schedule depended on when the ships came in and when they needed to be loaded. However,  slaves in urban areas had more freedom when it came to their mobility, they were allowed to move but needed a pass by their owners.
