It is the impulsive thing to say that children should never be employed; that they should be kept at home during the tender years, and that their schooling should have priority over the formation of business habits. Theoretically this is right, but the needs of the poor are little known. Many of the children who are employed as helpers, messengers, cash boys and minor laborers in shops, foundries, factories, offices and as venders, are the mainstay of families that live, God knows how, for the one who should be the bread winner is an invalid, a cripple, a paralytic, and would be in the charity hospital or the almshouse were it not that the instinct of family unity is as strong and admirable among the humble as among the rich. If all children are to be released from employment we must immensely widen our charities to care for their parents. 1.According to this passage, what is the authors perspective on child labor? the authors perspective on child labor

2.According to this passage, what is the main reason the children are working, and not the parents?

3. Explain this piece of evidence in your own words. “If all children are to be released from employment we must immensely widen our charities to care for their parents”.

Iam told that hundreds if not thousands of these (armenians) were sent at once to the front ranks at the dardanelles, where death in a very short space of time is almost a certainty. the older men were then deported into the interior, while the women and children, when not carried off in an opposite direction, were left to shift for themselves as best they could. the terrible feature of this deportation up to date is that it has been carried out on such a basis as to render it practically impossible in thousands of cases that these families can ever again be reunited. not only wives and husbands, brothers and sisters, but even mothers and their little children have been dispersed in such a manner as to preclude practically all hope that they will ever see each other again. according to this excerpt, what does the author consider to be the worst part of the deportation during the armenian genocide?
