So hitler used the dictatorship to his advantage in that he could not be overpowered unless he was overthrown. But by creating a time of crisis (World War II) he was to remain in power until it was over. So however long he kept the war going he would remain in power. When the war was nearing his end he committed die so he would "go out on top"
