Huey Long was a hero in many ways. Long made many decisions that helped Louisiana in many ways. He focused on infrastructures, education and supported the common people of Louisiana. He lowered the utility rates to support common people, along with building roads and bridges and supporting the education system. Long did many great things to help the common people, but the people running big businesses did not support him. While he worked to help common people the big business owners felt like he did not help them out very much.
Huey Long worked in many ways to help improve the lives of the common people of Louisiana. He supported the "Share Our Wealth" program which would limit how much money rich Americans could accumulate. The surplus would guarantee ordinary Americans a minimum annual income. Through this, the less fortunate Americans would be able to still receive and income to be able to support themselves and their families.
Along with trying to help the common people of Louisiana, Long, also helped to improve education and roads. Long built more roads and bridges to make transportation easier and accessible to the common folk. He pursued increased spending for the education system so that the schools may improve.
Though Long had helped many of the common people, he was still unpopular in other communities. He did not appeal to the African American community. Though he did help this community economically he did not help them socially. One of his earliest acts as governor was to sign a bill expanding train segregation to buses, and gave speeches warning of “Negro domination”. Because of this long was not very popular among the African American community.
