War in Afghanistan

Explanation:

The Afghanistan-United States conflict would start around the 70s in the Cold War.  To summarize, in around the late 70s the Soviet Union would invade Afghanistan and would be tied in conflict with local militias known as "Mujahideen". The Mujahideen were various militias formed to fight off the Soviet invasion, the United States, one of the main Nations associated with the "War on Communism" funded the Mujahideen with money, weapons and lots of other supplies to combat the Soviet Union. The invasion would eventually fail but leave Afghanistan in ruins, it would also leave the various Mujahideen groups fighting amongst themselves for power, while this was happening the "Taliban" would rise and take advantage of the turmoil of Afghanistan to take power of about 75% of Afghanistan and establish a strict interpretation of "Sharia Law" which governed the country from 1996-2001. In 2001 9/11 would take place, one of the most notorious terrorists attacks in U.S. history which would change the country forever from then on, it would be discovered that "Al-Qaeda" a state within Afghanistan under control of the Taliban was associated with these attacks. The U.S. demanded the Taliban hand over all Al-Qaeda leaders and various other demands that were refused. This would start the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan which would eventually overthrow the Taliban as the ruling government and replace it with something more "democratic". The Mujahideen that fought for power decided to unite in support of the United States and it's effort to overthrow the Taliban as well. This war would rage from 2001-2014 with much progress- notably the assassination of Osama Bin Laden. A second phase would then begin, starting from 2015 and continuing to this day, fighting various Islamic Militias, Al-Qaeda, and the Taliban.
