Básicamente, los Estados se ven en la necesidad de verse reconocidos para no sentir una exclusión de parte del mundo. En cuanto a las consecuencias, un Estado al verse reconocido, entra en juego su soberanía, una invasión hacia ellos no sería bien vista por los demás, y también que podían participar en el juego comercial mundial y diferentes tratados.
