Was John Brown justified in his violence in the name of abolition? Why or why not?​

John Brown was a martyr, he devoted is life to the absolute destruction of slavery. He saw slavery as the most evil thing that one human could do to another. In these thoughts he was right. Many people, particularly in the North shared the ideals but the violence in which Brown was willing to commit did not agree with the people of the North. I personally believe he was because I feel that his movement no matter how short lived it was greatly bolstered the abolitionist movement and helped the tension between the South and North get closer to the historic boiling point.

I think his action were necessary it is unfortunate that people died. It is unfortunate that John Brown died and was considered to make a insignificant difference but in reality his actions and death did a lot for the early movement of abolition and cemented and many peoples mind's that slavery was wrong.
