They were very muddy, uncomfortable and the toilets overflowed. These conditions caused some soldiers to develop medical problems such as trench foot.(a foot syndrome that happens when you're feet are wet for a long period of time).Fighting on the western front was really awful for the soldiers they had cramp spaces where they could live(in the trenches) and because of the bad conditions surrounding them,it was likely there for people to get diseases,infections etc.
