Why was Harlem the focal point of the renaissance?

It was important time where the African Americans showed their talent. There were lots of African Americans who became famous musicians, visual artists, got involved with theatrics, and literature. It was a time of growth for the African Americans also known as the New Negro Movement. It took place in between 1917- 1935 and the African Americans flourished. The Jazz age was a result of these awesomely talented musicians. People of the Harlem Renaissance include W.E.B Du Bois, Louis Armstrong, Jelly Roll Morton, Josephine Baker, etc.
