Sinopsis del Imperio Bizantino

El Imperio Bizantino o también llamado Imperio Romano de Oriente, se originó en el año 395 d. C. cuando el emperador Teodosio, consciente de lo difícil que resultaba mantener la seguridad de las fronteras del imperio, decidió dividir el Imperio Romano en dos: Oriente y Occidente. A diferencia del imperio romano de Occidente que fue destruido en el año 476 por los germanos, el imperio Bizantino logró sobrevivir a la amenaza germánica perdurando casi diez siglos, hasta el año 1453 cuando los turcos otomanos ocuparon su capital, Constantinopla (actual Estambul).
