The Treaty which can be credited to end the opium war was the Nanjing treaty which was signed in 1842. It was a peace treaty. This treaty was between United Kingdom and China and it was one of the first treaties to which China later called Unequal treaties. The first of the working draft of this treaty was prepared in London’s foreign office..

The foreign office of London was also aware of the fact that preparing this treaty will need a special consideration as it will have both English and Chinese characters. But this treaty still left many unsettled issues between both tease countries as they were unable to decide the status of Opium traffic which was in favor of British Empire.  

This treaty also ended very old canon system and also created many disadvantageous situation in respect to foreign relations of China with other countries along with Trade.
