Why did the U. S. raise tariffs and why was it a poor decision during this time?
A. To punish Great Britain, France, and Germany for
not paying back the money they owed to U. S.
banks. It was a poor decision to raise tariffs
because it brought in more trade.
B. To try and bring in more money to the American
economy. It was a poor decision to raise tariffs
because other countries didn't want to or could
not afford to pay the tariffs.
