What is herd of a couple female horses called without a stallion in it?

i looked everywhere and cannot find it. i'm talking about what if their are a couple lone mares that have not found a herd yet and run into each other. do they stick together since they are social animals or do they part ways to find a stallion herd? if they stick together what do you call it? a band?
