The trip must have taken about six weeks going and returning. It was really tought, sleeping on the ground this trip, it was so wet and cold. I had just a couple of cotton quilts. I used my saddle for a pillow. We would move the fire over and flop down on the ground where the fire had
been, which would stay warm for a while.
