The response of the Reagan administration to the drug crisis was a continuation of the War on Drugs that had been started by Richard Nixon a decade earlier.

Reagan singed into law several congress acts that gave more money to the president in order to fight against drug use, and drug distribution. The first lady launched the campaign "just say no" in order to raise awareness and educate about the dangers of drug use and drug addiction.
