After President Nixon’s resignation, Gerard Ford became president of the United States (B).

President Richard M. Nixon, a Republican congressman, won the presidential election in 1968 and became the 37th President of The United States. In 1972, he won the election and became the president for the second term. Not long after that, Nixon was under accusations of accepting bribes and tax evasion known as The Watergate scandal.  

On 9 August 1974, he decided to resign from office rather than face impeachment over his role in the scandal. Nixon was the first and the only US President that resign in American history.

On the same day of Nixon's resignation, Gerard Ford, who was Nixon's Vice President became the 38th President of the United States. A month later Ford granted the former President Nixon a full pardon. Gerard Ford was President of The United States during period 1974- 1977.
