What is the overall message of "give me liberty or give me death"

Freedom and rights will only be available to those who are willing to exert themselves to win hold and have them. His words remind us that in  any instance (and those instances may happen more often then we'd like) that we have to be willing to fight and risk death for our freedom ( our rights)!
