the horrible conditions of the middle passage are hard to overstate. captive africans were packed together in cargo areas with barely enough room to breathe, to the point that it was common for slaves to die from a lack of breathable air. this was the fate of millions of west africans across three and a half centuries of the slave trade on the voyage known as the middle passage. two philosophies dominated the loading of a slave ship.

the middle passage was to trade slaves, but the slaves were treated really bad. they would abused or killed, and torchured if they got caught try to to leave.
