1.  Working conditions were very bad. Workers faced very long hours, poor working conditions, and no stability of employment.  Children were sent to work as soon as they could use their hands and feet, with no opportunity for education.  If they were injured at work, they were sacked because they could no longer work.

2. One problem London workers had to contend with was long and irregular hours. The Factory Act, introduced in 1833, attempted to regulate hours, and make it harder for employers to make workers work excessive hours.
