Propaganda was widespread throughout the cold war when both US and USSR demonised each other It reached its height during 1950s and 1960s. US and USSR both used television, film and music to promote national values. It was carried out with subtlety in the material produced by governments. Both the countries tried to show the advantages their citizens had to those who lived in other country.
