What is the system of the checks and balances and how does it protect the people of this country?

The system of checks and balances a system where they give powers between three branches so that problems that occur can be taken care at the judicary branch and other branches 

Checks and balances is the system working between the three governmental branches: the executive branch, the legislative branch, and the judicial branch. The checks and balances ensure that one person cannot gain too much power as to become a dictator. If one branch gains too much power, the other two branches can act towards lowering the power.
