Al quaeda rose in protest of us, invading Kuwait. It was seen as us invading in other countries that we did not belong in, and so it radicalized a variety of people(not to mention the countless interventions we did) Also we funded the Muja Hadeen, which was the people who fought the Soviet Union, who eventually became Al Queda
