Which statement best explains how terrace farming differ from slash and burning agriculture

Terrance farming consists of farming in hills/ mountains, where "steps" are cut to the until they are flat to allow plants to grow on there.
slash and burn consists of burning down plants, waiting a year or so, and then planting on top of the "new" soil.

Out of the two, i believe Terrance farming is better.
