What phrase have some scholars devised to replace the term “melting pot” theory?

There is a number of new phases that the scholars propose to replace the phrase "melting pot" with, which all stress the fact that while the cultures mix, as in the melting pot, they still remain distinct: Kaleidoscope, mosaic or salad bowl.
