Hugo Chavez was the President of Venezuela who presided over the office for more than 14 years. He took oath to the President in 1999 and continued to the post till his demise in 2013. Born in a middle-class family he started his career as the army officer and after getting fully dissatisfied with the political system he started the “Revolutionary Bolivarian Movement” during the early 1880s. Besides all this, he was also the frontrunner of the political party Fifth Republic Movement which later coalited with several other political parties to form Venezuela’s United Socialist Party.

Citizens were having so much faith in him that they gave him a referendum to propose an implementation in the Constitution. The referendum was introduced in the constitution to amend Article 69 of the constitution to transform the country into a socialist country.
