"Your eyes dried seeds, your body a husk of light" is quoted from Sally Bryer's poem "Ingrid Jonker". The poet likens her to Persephone of Greek legend who was abducted to the underworld by Hades the king of the underworld. The poet Ingrid Jonker committed suicide by walking into the sea knowing the dangers, like Persephone who ate pomegranate seeds offered by Hades though she knew that doing so will make her stay permanently with Hades.
