How should citizens deal with the aftermath of an interaction between police in your opinion and why (violence is not an option)?

First of all, sometimes the police have to react with violence to restore order within the streets. If people weren't violent they wont be met with violence, only a police force ready for if violence breaks out. This is something protesters don't understand. They think that just because the police showed up the police want to kill them and beat them alive. The news, in my opinion, is the main cause of this. Citizens shouldn't f_cking go cause an all out riot just because the police put down a protest that almost turned into a full fledge riot. People don't understand why the police do what they do.
