Not entirely, though many things are still being accomplished and have been accomplished women are still not being treated as equals for example women are still killed in the street because they tell a man no and no matter how much evidence there is the case is still considered to be a mystery because of systemic issues primarily with cops.

the tariff was created to protect industry in the northern part of the united states. industries in the north were being driven out of business by imported goods that were priced at a low rate. the goal was to protect these industries   by taxing the goods.
