The first truly indigenous press the black Africa's press was founded in Liberia in 1826 with the monthly Liberia Herald of Charles Force (Mytton, 1983), in Ghana in 1857 (the West African Herald – the first newspaper of an African from Africa) and in Nigeria in 1859 (Iwe Irohin – “The Newspaper”).
