The meaning of this quotation is everything after the discovery of natural resources in outer regions beside their countries they are called the 'voyagers' but later on called as 'colonizers'. Colonies exist to provide raw materials and markets for a colonial power. This provide a seemingly good advances and disadvantages to the people that live there. They were unused of the people and their civilization and their culture. Although they may have adopt it doesn't mean for the better but also for worse situations they have been. They were put as slavery at that time because of their lack of knowledge that the colonizers have.
