Cultural resource management (CRM) is a career in archeology. Part of the CRM job profile is to protect and preserve heritage and culturally important or potentially important sites. Sometimes, such sites are located in areas selected for building dams, housing projects, electricity plants, and so on, which will help economic development and perhaps provide jobs. Does CRM then become an obstacle to progress? In the debate between preserving our heritage and development, which do you think is the priority? Is it possible to balance both of these objectives?
