Both answers are correct. In many cases the internet brings people together into communities of like-minded people who would never have met or been able to share thoughts and ideas. On the other hand, the internet can also drive people apart by sensationalizing issues and making them black and white. This forces people to pick a side and ignites anger and resentment from both sides.
