Please help (20 points) How did nationalist feelings shape the efforts of key leaders in the unification of Italy? Germany?

Nationalism became the most significant force for self-determination and unification in Europe of the 1800's.Nationalist began to form secret societies throughout Italy. Unification was the goal of groups such as the Young Italy Movement led by Giuseppe Mazzini who called for the establishment of a republic.Although the wars of unification were a conservative “revolution from above,” the liberals played a prominent role in shaping the process that Bismarck used to unify Germany. In regards to the actual wars of unification, many liberals were against Bismarck's actions and were only swayed by convincing victories.The Revolutions of 1848 resulted in a major development of the Italian nationalist movement.The Risorgimento was an ideological movement that helped incite the feelings of brotherhood and nationalism in the imagined Italian community, which called for the unification of Italy and the pushing out of foreign powers.Nationalism affected Germany in a negative way primarily because it was used as a tool for Hitler to blind his people to the atrocities of his regime. This practice, however, had its start long before World War Two actually began.
