Selig and Yehuda had been in the same block for several months. They put in long days of work, digging trenches for the new crematorium to be installed at Auschwitz. Early in the morning, Selig hears the gong sounding them to roll call. He nudges Yehuda, who moans. Yehuda tells Selig to go on to roll call without him because he is just too weak to move. Selig insists that Yehuda get up, pulling him out of the bunk. Yehuda leans on Selig all the way to roll call. What would MOST likely have happened to Yehuda if he did not appear for work?
