What was Andrew Jackson's response to the nullification crisis? He allowed Vice President Calhoun to speak for the administration in support of nullification. He came down strongly in favor of the Union over states' rights. He withdrew his support for the "Tariff of Abominations" and things quieted down. He sent troops to South Carolina to quell riots there.
