In the second paragraph, Lincoln keeps using the word "we" to refer to his audience and everyone fighting the war, both Northerners and Southerners. Find something that Lincoln claims that "we" have in common, and say whether or not you agree with him based on what the class discussed today.

Note that you will need to use textual evidence from the Gettysburg Address and at least one other text that the class discussed in this lesson. Your teacher will let you know how you should do this.

Second Paragraph:
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this
