Describe the ways in which popular sovereignty is exercised directly and indirectly under the constitution

The idea of popular sovereignty was used in the Constitution by the founding fathers as a fundamental principle of American government. That government is created by the consent of the people who give the state it's authority. The elected representatives chosen by the people, are the active arm of political action, but political power belongs to the people themselves.
