How did an occupation-based social hierarchy support zhou rule?

Zhou dynasty is known for its unique social hierarchy. It was effective because of the power given to the military. The social structure gives power to the highest official of the dynasty which is the emperor. They were able to attain a reliable foundation of their government because of this social hierarchy.
