President Hoover (Republican): President hoover tried to make a recovery by asking people to voluntarily keep down prices. This was pretty much the only thing he did to combat the Great Depression, and lost a lot of support when he ordered troops to fire at veterans of the Great War when they were asking for their pay ahead of time.
President Roosevelt (Democrat): With the knowledge that people aren't very supportive of the Republicans, the Democrats won easily with Roosevelt as their head. Roosevelt passed a lot of acts that allowed for a gradual return of the American Economy. He also became our war-time president
