The basic provisions of the Magna Carta are to create equality of not only basic rights and responsibilities, but to also make clear that all people, common or royal, shall be subject to the same scrutiny under the law. The latter statement of holding all commoners and leaders to the same lawful standard is what is most important and most needed in the American Government today. The American Government has done many things recently (and in the past) that show that their government believes that they are above the law, this is unacceptable and will create a national crisis in the coming years if not addressed and corrected immediately.
