In 1830 Jackson passed the Indian removal act in law and there was a lot of deportation of native Americans towards the lands west of the Mississippi River. Jackson used the word savage which gave the impression to the  Americans that the natives were lesser beings whose rights could not exceed those of the whites and the educated settlers. This led to the government authorities removing the Indian tribes from their ancestral lands, by force without considering the treaties that had been signed before to prevent this from happening.
