True Julius Caesar  was a successful military man, he returned from gaul (modern day France) and tried to take control of Rome (modern day Italy) and ended up fighting Pompey and Crassus. Julius Caesar had more experience in battle since he just got done fighting with the Gauls, and defeated Pompey and Crassus in battle. They ended up both dying later on and that was the turning point from the republic into the Empire...
