1) One common reason for these patterns of settlement is that immigrants wanted to be with others from their native country. All in all, many people preferred to stick to their own kind, so it was necessary for them to stay close one to another.

So, the main difference between Ellis Island and Angel Island was that the majority of the immigrants were from Asian countries, and attitude towards them was quite mixed.
